I was the type of kid who almost had no friends and was always quiet in class. Maybe it was because I loved playing computer and mobile games, but when I first came to the academy and met others, I became curious about how games were made and learned that people behind Facebook and Instagram work in this field. It made me interested, so I decided to join. As I approached graduation, I started thinking about my career, and when I learned to code, I realized that the tech industry was the perfect fit for someone like me, who was a bit more reserved.
Every day I would go to class, and after that, I would sit and work until 9 or 10 at night. I imagined each new technology I learned as a level in a game, and just like in a game, I would get through each level, making time pass quickly. Some of the times were easy, and some were tough, but every time I hit a challenge, I would ask my teachers relentlessly. My teachers never complained about my many questions. Instead, they always said that I needed to understand the material fully, so I felt comfortable asking, like I was learning from older siblings rather than teachers.
After graduation, I started working. I thought it would be an easy job where I would just sit behind my computer and not have to talk to anyone, but it turned out to be the exact opposite – I had to communicate a lot. Teamwork is crucial in the tech industry, so it was very important to have good communication with the team.
After working for a while, I joined Rendered AI, an American AI company, where I worked remotely. Since there was a 15-hour time difference, I had meetings twice a week, either in the morning or in the evening. The rest of the time, I wrote code. My English wasn’t very good, so I prepared everything I needed to say at the meeting by translating it and presenting it. Even though my speech wasn’t perfect, I could still explain the work I had done, and that was enough.
My main responsibility at Rendered AI was to develop a system that would run flawlessly at all times. The system was successful, and thanks to that, we were able to attract the next round of funding and successfully raise capital.
If you’re planning to study at Pinecone, I would advise you to dedicate 100% of yourself during this time. If you keep leveling up in your own "game," there are many opportunities in the tech field. I wish you success in becoming an engineer recognized worldwide.
