PineHeroes: Bilguun.G "I have to acknowledge that I haven’t tried or don’t know certain things."
Oct 28, 2024
I graduated in chemistry in Japan. Initially, I was interested in becoming a researcher, but after working as a researcher for several years, I felt it wasn’t the right path for me. So, I decided to switch fields.
Before graduating from university, I listened to Shagai's podcast while in Japan and realised I could quickly transition into this field. After returning to Mongolia, I joined Pinecone without hesitation in the fall of 2023. Six months later, in April 2024, I sent my CV to various companies and received job offers from Mobicom, TechPack, and Unitel, ultimately joining Unitel. One downside of being a Software Engineer is that I tend to lose track of time when I get engrossed in my work, often leading to back pain. But other than that, everything is great!
The most influential aspect of my time at Pinecone has been its culture of asking questions and learning about things I didn’t understand. During job interviews, I expressed my confidence in learning technologies I hadn’t yet mastered. Pinecone teaches a clear and effective way to grasp technology, so after graduation, if a new technology emerges, I feel fully capable of learning and applying it on my own.
Thus, it’s not just about mastering many technologies, but having the confidence that I can learn them. It’s essential to accept that I haven’t tried or don’t know certain things. As the saying goes, "A fool who has tried is better than a wise man who hasn’t." Starting is 50% of the outcome, so I believe one should dive in and start learning without hesitation.
