PineHeroes: Ganzorig.N "People often think there are no opportunities once you turn 30."
Dec 7, 2024
I graduated in 2010 with a degree in Geology and worked in the field for 12 years. However, in 2022, I decided to change careers. For 10 years, I worked on shifts, away from home, which made it difficult to spend time with my family and children. So, after researching, I decided to become a Software Engineer and joined Pinecone.
Now, I am 36 years old and work as a Software Engineer at Qpay. Many people think that once you turn 30, there are no opportunities left, but in reality, if you don’t limit yourself and keep trying, opportunities are definitely there.
When I first started working in this field, I was worried about competing with younger colleagues in their 20s. But as I worked hard and started doing well in my class, I became more confident that I wouldn’t fall behind in the workplace. At first, I didn’t know anything about coding or how programs worked, and there were many times when I didn’t understand things, which made me want to give up. But in truth, if you don’t limit yourself and keep pushing forward, there are plenty of opportunities.
Changing careers has allowed me to take my kids to school, pick them up after class, and spend more time with them. Being with them more often has helped me grow closer to them, and they now call me "dad" more often. I believe my presence has made a positive impact on their upbringing.
After completing the LEAP program, I got a job in June. Three months later, after completing my tasks well, I received a positive evaluation, got a salary increase, and became a permanent employee. I am very satisfied with the fact that, just under a year after switching careers, I am earning a decent salary. In my opinion, in this field, if you work quickly and efficiently, it doesn’t take many years to advance.
